This is the place where the magic happens. Delectable food, cocktails, great conversations- whatever it may be- it happens here. And- we want it to be comfortable and cozy, a welcoming space for all. Because if the magic is gonna happen, let's face it Marvin Gaye better be playing in the background. Cue- Let's Get it On- I am literally listening to it while writing this! Ok, let's get back to the magic that is your kitchen...

We want them to be welcoming and efficient AND clean! How do we do all of that! Simple touches. Simple touches everywhere ladies! That's right! It's all you need! Add some succulents to your windows to bring nature in. Try a two or three tiered fruit basket and add it to your counter. Light a small candle or diffuse your favorite oil. Bring those soft touches in. Keep those counters clean- It's HARD! Believe me- I get it! Mom of two boys here! Next thing- please love this! - add some simple linens. A runner to your counter or placemats to your table, they create softness! Lastly, and this is key, some fresh flowers! It makes such a difference and I notice when my hubby brings home that fresh bouquet, I want the counters clean so I can see them! See just tell them I said do- It usually works!

Show me some great kitchens! Cooking kitchens, clean crisp white kitchens, kid kitchens, purple kitchens! Yes I had a purple kitchen growing up- my mother loved purple and we all thought she was crazy but it actually looked pretty great off the white wainscoting. The last ingredient in a great kitchen-- make it your own! We are all different and that's what makes us all great! So if you hate succulents or fresh flowers ( or you lack the green thumb) grab a faux plant and sit it in your kitchen window. Because at the end of the day, the entire point of this was to make your space happy for you, and no one else. So rock it, enjoy it, and dance away to Marvin Gaye.
